Charlie & Ellen Lohman, wedding portrait, 1899
Charlie Lohman and his wife Ellen Dora Sylvester-Lohman are buried at Nameless Cemetery. Charlie was the son of August “Gustav” Lohmann, brother to Albert Sidney Lohmann and Mary “Minnie” Cantwell Lohman.
Charlie was born 10 February 1879 in Richland Springs, San Saba County, Texas, and died at age 77 on 30 November 1956 in Travis County, Texas, where he spent most of his life. The family moved to Bishop, Texas in 1916, when daughter Dorothy was 8 years old. As Dorothy recalled, they made the move in a covered wagon. By the time she was a young teenager, the family had moved back to the Travis-Williamson County area.
Charlie played the fiddle, as did a number of the Lohman family including his cousin, Baldy Lohman from Leander.
Charlie married Ellen Dora Sylvester in 1899. Ellen was born 5 February 1883 and died 22 March 1966 at age 83. She was the daughter of James “Jim” and Sallie Emma Briggs-Sylvester. Sallie is buried at Nameless also.
Charlie and Ellen Dora had six children: four girls and two boys.
